Aims & Goals

The Sr. Database Architect must be able to address issues of Data Migration (Validation, Clean-up and Mapping), and will need to understand the importance of Data Dictionaries.

Key Responsibilities
• Requirement Analysis and Solution Design
• Design and develop OLTP Databases, Data Warehouses and Multi-dimensional Databases
• Develop strategies for data acquisitions, archive, recovery and implementation of a database
• Develop data models for database structures
• Integrate technical functionality such as scalability, security, performance, data recovery, reliability, etc
• Implement measures to ensure data accuracy and accessibility
• Produce and enforce database development standards
• Maintain a repository of all data architecture artifacts and procedures
• Identify and evaluate current data management technologies
• Provide a strategic database direction for the organization

 

Experience Level
• 10 - 15 years of experience as Database Analyst/Database Designer with relevant DBA exposure

Educational Background
• Preferably a BE/BSc in computer science or related engineering field
• May be certified as an Oracle DBA

Essential Skills
• An enquiring mind
• Ability to abstract general principles from specifics
• A strong desire to establish Standards of Best Practice
• Communication and presentation Skills
• Experience in code migration, database change management and data management through the various stages of the development life cycle
• Sound knowledge of both database and system performance tuning
• Ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines
• Should possess sound understanding of the business

Additional Skills
• Sound understanding of the Data Replication Software such as Data Guard and Golden Gate
• Sound understanding of the underlying operating system
• Sound knowledge of the physical database design
• Ability to perform both Oracle and operating system performance tuning and monitoring
• Knowledge of all Oracle backup and recovery scenarios
• Sound knowledge of Oracle security management
• Ability to define data backup and restore policy.
• Ability to optimize available resources pool hardware and people both.
• ISO\ITIL process knowledge
